MEET OUR LEADING RESEARCHERS

Nipissing University is a small, student-centred, comprehensive university in Northeastern Ontario, Canada and situated on the traditional territory of Nipissing First Nation and the Anishnabek. These lands are protected by the Robinson Huron Treaty of 1850. Our strategic plan expresses our commitments to Water, Land, and People. Our campus provides a living lab experience both outdoors and indoors – with trails, a pond, waterfall, and highly equipped central analytic facility, simulation centre, and sport science labs.

We strive to do research that has impact within the communities we serve – primarily rural, remote, and northern. We have a commitment to honour Indigenous knowledge and respect diverse ideas, forms of knowledge, perspectives, and ways of engaging in research.

Our outstanding researchers are recognized nationally and internationally for their work in diverse areas such as climate change, hydrology, environmental history, topology, community-based physical activity promotion, youth mental health, dementia care, aging, and Indigenous health and wellness. Many of our researchers work in interdisciplinary teams, with collaborators around the globe and in partnership with communities, non-profit, and public and private sector organizations.
