The Addictions awareness project
Standing Together For Change
Why Should You Participate?
In addition to receiving a chance to win an iPad, your opinion matters! This is an opportunity for your voice to be heard and for you to make a difference! By completing this anonymous survey, you will be providing us with valuable information that we will use to inform a campaign focused on decreasing the harms associated with substance use and/or habitual behaviours, such as gambling, excessive cell phone use, etc.
Further, this campaign will be designed as a sharable resource that can be launched with post-secondary partners for use on all Canadian campuses. Materials will be shared through The Centre for Innovation in Campus Mental Health (CICMH).
About The Survey
This survey is funded by the Ministry of College and Universities and will be carried out by Nipissing University, in collaboration with Canadore College. This post-secondary addiction response project is a part of an Enhanced Student Care Network project.
The Addictions Awareness Needs Assessment is an anonymous survey, that will close on March 31, 2025. The information gathered in this survey is non-identifiable and will be used to for the purpose of understanding the needs of students on campus as it relates to substance use and habitual behaviours. Further, following completion of this survey participants will be directed to a separate survey, or if they choose not to complete the draw entry form, they will be directed to a landing page with links to available resources.
If you choose to complete the draw entry form, which is in no way linked to the Addictions Awareness Needs Assessment, your name and contact information will be collected and you will be entered into a grand prize draw for completing the Addictions Awareness Needs Assessment. You will also have an opportunity to indicate if you would like to be connected with mental health services at your campus.
About The Prize Draw
There is one iPad available to be won for each institution (Canadore College and Nipissing University). The draw for the two iPads will take place on Friday, April 4, 2025 and the winner of the draw will be contacted via their student email account and by phone (if a phone number was provided). Should the winner of the iPad fail to accept their prize within 7 days of prize notification, an alternate winner will be drawn. There is a maximum of one entry per student.
Winners of the two iPads will be required to provide their student identification when picking up their prize and will also be required to sign an acknowledgement indicating that they received the prize.
You must me be a Nipissing University or Canadore College student who is or was enrolled in the 2024-2025 academic year to be eligible to enter the draw. You must complete the Addictions Awareness Needs Assessment survey and the unlinked draw entry form, providing us with your contact information, including your Nipissing University or Canadore College student email address. Failing to provide a student email address will disqualify you from entering the draw.
